Alan Doyle

Alan Doyle (born May 17, 1969) is a celebrated Canadian musician, actor, bestselling author, and Member of the Order of Canada, widely recognized as a vibrant cultural ambassador for Newfoundland and Labrador. He catapulted to national fame as the energetic lead singer and front man of the iconic Celtic-rock band Great Big Sea, a group that successfully fused traditional East Coast sea shanties with contemporary pop sensibilities to sell over one million albums. Beyond his successful band tenure and subsequent solo musical career, Doyle has established himself as an accomplished onscreen actor—appearing in major projects like Ridley Scott's Robin Hood—and a theatrical creator, co-writing and starring in the box-office-breaking stage musical Tell Tale Harbour.
