A Year in Provence

by Peter Mayle

A signed hardcover copy of Peter Mayle’s A Year in Provence, his warm and humorous month-by-month account of settling with his wife in an old farmhouse in the Lubéron region of southern France. Mayle writes about local customs, food, weather, neighbours, tradespeople and the pleasures and frustrations of adapting to Provençal life.

The book became an international bestseller and one of the best-known modern travel memoirs. It received the British Book Awards’ travel-book honour and helped establish Mayle as a widely read chronicler of Provence.

Peter Mayle has flat signed the title page in black ink without a dedication. This author signature is separate from the previous-owner writing: an interior page contains multiple personalized gift inscriptions in blue ink, including an inscription dated June 1991. These owner inscriptions are disclosed as condition marks and are not represented as author inscriptions.

Hardcover with dust jacket and deckled-edge pages. The cream pictorial jacket shows light edge and corner wear, scattered small marks and minor surface wear. The dust jacket is now protected in a removable clear plastic cover. The visible interior paper appears generally clean apart from the disclosed inscriptions, although only representative pages have been photographed. The book will be carefully protected for packing.
