Freetown Ambush: A Reporter's Year in Africa by Ian Stewart, published in Canada by Viking/Penguin Books Canada in 2002. This hardcover first edition, first printing retains its dust jacket. The copyright page states “First published 2002” and has the complete 10-to-1 number line. ISBN 0-670-89479-6.

Stewart recounts his experiences as the Associated Press bureau chief for West Africa, reporting on conflicts in Sierra Leone and elsewhere in the region. The narrative centres on the January 1999 ambush in Freetown in which Stewart was shot in the head and his colleague Myles Tierney was killed, combining a war correspondent's eyewitness account with the story of Stewart's survival and recovery.

This copy is flat signed by Ian Stewart on the title page and also contains a separate dated presentation inscription signed by the author. The inscription is dated March 26, 2002, the year of publication. An Indigo Books Music & Café “Autographed” sticker remains on the front of the dust jacket.

Very minor foxing is present; otherwise the book is in Very Good condition. The dust jacket is included and is now protected in a removable clear plastic cover. Please review the photographs for the signatures, inscription, edition details, jacket, and condition.
