Lidia Bastianich (born February 21, 1947) is an Emmy Award-winning celebrity chef, restaurateur, author, and one of the most beloved hosts on American public television. Born in Pula, Istria (now Croatia), she immigrated to the United States as a refugee in 1958, eventually launching a culinary empire that transformed Italian cuisine in America through flagship restaurants like Felidia and Becco. She has hosted critically acclaimed PBS series for over two decades, including Lidia’s Kitchen, Lidia’s Italy, and the documentary series Lidia Celebrates America, which earned her a Daytime Emmy Award. A prolific writer, she has authored more than a dozen bestselling cookbooks, frequently collaborating with her daughter, Tanya Bastianich Manuali, to celebrate family traditions and authentic Italian culinary history.
