Kendare Blake

Kendare Blake (born July 1981) is a #1 New York Times bestselling contemporary American young adult novelist whose atmospheric, highly suspenseful storytelling deftly spans dark fantasy, gory horror, and mythology-infused fiction. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she was adopted in infancy by American parents and raised in Cambridge, Minnesota, later earning a bachelor's degree in business from Ithaca College and a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Middlesex University in London. Blake vaulted into global literary prominence with her 2011 breakout ghost thriller, Anna Dressed in Blood, which garnered widespread critical acclaim and was optioned for film adaptation by Stephenie Meyer. She solidified her reputation as a master of dark world-building with her blockbuster Three Dark Crowns fantasy series, a cutthroat royal succession saga that spent weeks on national bestseller lists, and expanded her diverse literary domain with the historical midwestern true-crime thriller All These Bodies. Renowned for her lightning-fast pacing and morally grey character ensembles, she has also authored the Goddess War trilogy, the officially licensed Buffy: The Next Generation trilogy, and her recent high-concept Heromaker fantasy duology, which concluded with Warrior of Legend.
