Jamie McGuire (born November 6, 1978) is an American author whose emotionally raw romance novels and dark thrillers paved the way for the New Adult fiction genre. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she attended Northern Oklahoma College and the University of Central Oklahoma before graduating from Autry Technology Center with a degree in Radiography. McGuire initially broke into the industry as a self-published writer before vaulting to international fame with her 2011 hit novel, [Beautiful Disaster](1.1.4, 1.4.3). The addictive campus romance tracking the chaotic relationship of Abby Abernathy and bad-boy Travis Maddox became a global phenomenon, topped the New York Times bestseller list, and was later adapted into a 2023 Hollywood feature film starring Dylan Sprouse. She expanded this universe through the Beautiful series—including the retelling Walking Disaster and A Beautiful Wedding—and went on to publish the chart-topping Maddox Brothers spin-off saga, which launched with the #1 bestseller Beautiful Oblivion. Showcasing her genre versatility, McGuire has also authored the Providence paranormal trilogy, the apocalyptic zombie thriller Red Hill, and the contemporary dark mystery All the Little Lights.
