Ivan Fraser is an accomplished Canadian visual artist, landscape photographer, author, and storyteller celebrated for dedicating his creative career to preserving the natural beauty and folklore of Nova Scotia. Born and raised along the province’s rugged coast, he spent his childhood exploring local inlets and woods, which ultimately inspired him to turn his passion into a full-time artistic career in 1981. Operating out of his self-named gallery and framing studio on Peggy’s Cove Road in Glen Margaret, Nova Scotia, Fraser crafts vivid paintings and scenic photographs that capture the quiet majesty of local marine landscapes and deep forests. He achieved widespread regional acclaim as the creator of the Peggy of the Cove multimedia story project, a heartwarming historical-fiction and folklore initiative that explores the 1800s shipwreck legend behind the naming of the famous local fishing village. Fraser has penned several entries in this beloved book series—including the critically acclaimed children's book The Rescue of Peggy (illustrated by David Preston Smith) and the adventure novel Peggy of the Cove: Ransomed (Book 3)—and he joyfully shares these stories with curious international tourists at his childhood home museum.
