Hannah Holmes is an American science and natural-history writer and journalist, born in 1963. The Bibliothèque nationale de France identifies her as a specialist in science and natural history, while her publisher credits her with bringing reporting on science and nature to a wide readership through books and magazine work.
Holmes’s nonfiction combines scientific research with personal observation and accessible narrative. Her books include The Secret Life of Dust, which follows dust from cosmic and environmental processes into everyday life; Suburban Safari, an inquiry into the ecology of an ordinary lawn; and The Well-Dressed Ape, a study of human biology and behaviour in relation to other animals. In Quirk, published by Random House in 2011, she examines personality through brain science, genetics, evolution, and the Five Factor Model.
