Giles Kristian (born 1975) is a British novelist whose fiction ranges from Viking-age adventure and the English Civil War to Arthurian retellings and contemporary suspense. His maternal Norwegian heritage and childhood time in western Norway helped shape the Scandinavian settings of his early historical work. Before publishing fiction, he was lead singer of the 1990s pop group Upside Down, and later worked in advertising and movie-trailer music.
Kristian’s debut, Raven: Blood Eye, began the Raven trilogy, followed by the Rise of Sigurd novels. He turned to seventeenth-century England in The Bleeding Land, the opening novel of a series about a family divided by the Civil War; Penguin lists the series as comprising two books. His later work includes the Arthurian novels Lancelot, Camelot, and Arthur, as well as Golden Lion, co-written with Wilbur Smith. In 2022 he published the contemporary survival thriller Where Blood Runs Cold.
Where Blood Runs Cold won the 2022 Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize for Best Published Novel.
